To Dahlia, one of the greatest perks of her career in science was being able to upgrade items around the house for her family to enjoy. All of the baths boasted the most modern improvements that science could offer, and Dahlia was working her way through the main living areas of the Foliage home. She had not touched the kitchen, out of a sense that it had been her mother’s domain. Did she dare to attempt to improve upon what the famed five-star chef had accomplished? Dahlia decided to touch neither the refrigerator nor the stove, but she thought she might be able to improve the cabinets. And then something went wrong.
Inexplicably, the cabinet emitted a little puff of smoke, then burst into flames. Rose ran in, just back from the park, and her sisters and aunt came from every corner of the home to first stare in disbelief, then shriek in panic. The flames climbed higher, and Dahlia couldn’t remember where Win had told her he kept the fire extinguisher. Win! In the midst of the crisis, she missed her brave man more than ever. Would her foolish experiment bring harm to her dear family? She couldn’t bear the thought!
Finally, the alarm system brought help. A yellow-clad figure dashed in, seeming not to even feel the weight of all the firefighting equipment he carried.
He made quick work of putting out the fire. As quickly as they had sprung up, the terrible orange flames were extinguished, and their hero turned to look at the Foliage women.
“…out, but still hot… keep the fire extinguisher… more careful… fire safety brochure…” Rose could only hear a few words here and there over the beating of her heart. She stared at this man in yellow and knew he was her hero, the only one for her. He had saved her. He had saved them all. He was afraid of nothing, and he had kind, gentle eyes.
Around Rose, the remnants of chaos played out, with everyone talking at once about how the fire started, whether the garden sprinklers would have helped, and what kind of fire retardant goes on firefighters’ helmets. While the others chatted to the hero, Rose tried to make dinner to offer him, but she got too flustered. She worked up her courage, and when there was a break in the conversation, she said to him, “Thank you. Thank you so much! But I don’t even know your name.”
“It’s Cedrick. Cedrick Kidd. And you don’t need to thank me. It was nothing.”
“It was something. In fact, it was everything to me,” Rose said.
Her mother and sisters looked on from a distance, not used to hearing such dramatic statements from quiet Rose. They watched as Rose and Cedrick chatted for several minutes, until he was called away to another emergency. After he left, Dahlia approached her slowly, trying to read her expression.
“Mom, he gave me his number, and he asked if he could come by tomorrow night!” Rose twirled around and drifted down into a chair with a sigh and a smile.
“Yeah, he probably just wants to bring us a new fire extinguisher or examine the cabinet for signs of arson or something,” said Daisy, earning a sharp look from her mother.
But Daisy was wrong. Cedrick came back the next evening, and he and Rose only had eyes for each other. They talked for hours, easing into flirting and then a first kiss.
By the end of the evening, they had made their relationship official. As he left for the night, Rose ran her hand down the cheek that he had caressed and then brushed her hair back over her shoulder. She almost shivered at the very thought of such a handsome, heroic man liking her! Loving her! She could hardly wait until they were married.
Yay for service sims. My next legacy is operating on different rules to my current one and service sims score me points so any handy hints on how to bag one are appreciated! Cedrick is cute as well.
I did have a little wibbly moment at Dahlia missing Win though. I hate it when one half of a lovely Sim couple lives on for quite a while after the other, they always seem so lost (though I suppose it’s realistic). 😦
Wow, you are fast, Rad! Queen of first comment, indeed! 🙂
Maids are the easiest to snag. The option “Ask to hang out” seems to come up pretty easily with them. Babysitters seem to age up incredibly fast, so be wary of them. The firefighters normally speed off, but Cedrick didn’t have a chance, being surrounded by so many women in the kitchen. He couldn’t get to the door before he was being chatted up! Almost all of the Foliage women rolled wants to chat with him.
Yes, Dahlia has had a few distraught moments. Judging by her age bar, it might not be long before she goes to join Win.
Ha! I’m not surprised they all rolled wants to talk to him!
I have a feeling that Cedric is fast going to become a fan-favorite. Good looking, noble, different genetics.
I love the way you take these little everyday Sim moments and turn them into plot developments.
Everyday? Yipes! I hope fires don’t turn out to be everyday around the Foliage house. They try to keep the flames confined to the flamefruit plants in the garden. 🙂
But thank you. I like Cedrick, too. Would you believe he only has two traits? Not saying anymore…
PS: OH WAIT a minute! Daisy isn’t going to steal him or chase him off, is she?
Oh now would Daisy do that? To her very own twin? 😉
I love a bit of romance! I’m so happy for Rose and Cedric. They will have gorgeous babies too!
The genetics are one of my favorite parts of the game. Sometimes they come up with some big surprises!
Cedric’s so cute! How could one of the sisters not want to try stealing him?
Although mine didn’t do it with her twin, she got preg with one of her elder sister’s husbands. That was a sad house for a while, catch your sister with your husband whilst preg with your 2nd child with said husband whilst you father in law-who’s married with a child to one of your triplets passes.
The only problem is I can’t decide what position in the top 3 of my fave blogs to read this should go in. I’m pretty sure you’re kinda hovering in between 1st and 2nd place.
Thanks, pinkfiend! You just made my day! I’m glad you like it.
Wow, you’ve got a lot going on in your legacy. Lots of cross-generational chaos! That’s the Parfait legacy, isn’t it?
Male firefighters always seem to be good looking…I wonder why that is. You should check to make sure he’s not a near-elder though if you care about such things =x
Not to worry, Nessva! I did check, and he’s still a young adult, though a bit older than his Rosie Posie.
Oh no the Parfait’s are pretty bland. There too hard to get complicated at the mo.
I have another much more convoluted family tree family called the King’s who’s G gen is heir as a teen, with his elder sister’s-triplet oddly, just married off. Although the F heir is still playing around around cos I got bored and he now grandkids the same age as his own kids. I had there tree on a site but I had to take it down cos it was too big, and meant I couldn’t have the Parfait’s up.
How did you know about the Parfait’s?
I confess to putting on a cute reporter hat (a la Lilith in the early days of VOTS) and going googling for “pinkfiend sims legacy.” And voila! The Parfaits appeared. Where may I find your Kings legacy? Is it storied online?
No the King’s aren’t storied. Granted the prob make a better story than the Parfait’s and despite the fact that they have very scandolous dosp opera style lives I suppose, they more and I can’t think of a story for them. And just when I could but brother fiddled with them, and moved the key characters out.
I dunno it’s hard enough to keep up the motivation to post and play the Parfait’s, without adding another blog into the mix. But I’m thinking about it.
I love the last picture of Rose when Cedrick is walking away–very sweet. 🙂
